A rich East Prussian shopkeeper,jealous that one of his male employees is in love with a female employee he himself covets, frames the couple for stealing lottery tickets.

A wife believes her husband has been deceiving her and decides to have some fun at his expense. After a bit of mischief, her husband, a lawyer who is preparing a divorce for a client, decides to start divorce proceedings himself. The wife then realises she has gone too far.

The deaf-mute little girl Angelika is a talented dancer and is trained by a ballet mistress so that she gets the leading role in an opera despite the intrigues of a rival. Angelika's brother gets out of prison and wants to build an honest life for himself, but falls back into the clutches of his former gang, who use him and the unsuspecting Angelika to circulate counterfeit money.

The printing worker Lena suffers a lot from the teasing of her colleagues, because no one really knows who the child she expects is from. The alleged father, sailor Ole Thomsen, is on his way. When he comes back, doubts also prevail over him, and he sits down. When Lena wants to take her own life, the doubters come to their senses and found a fund for the boy to be expected.

Mathilde Kratzer owns the entertainment venue "Bei Mathilde" (At Mathilde's). Her roommate Max also has a financial stake in the establishment, but only as a silent partner, which is why he works either as Mathilde's servant or as the bouncer. He would love to rename the venue "Bei Max und Mathilde" (At Max and Mathilde's), but Mathilde would rather return his investment. Her odyssey brings her to the court of a mythical kingdom, where she is romanced by handsome lieutenant Walter (Johannes Heesters). He is warned not to lose his heart to a "commoner," but all turns out all right when King Serenissimus (Otto Tressler) turns out to be Christine's long-lost daddy. Hofkonzert was designed as a comeback for Marta Eggerth, whose star had eclipsed by the mid-1930s.

In a small Hungarian village, a priest discovers a girl named Gitta who can sing beautifully. He takes Gitta with him and turns her into a celebrated revue star. After a quarrel with the priest, she runs away and meets a young composer named Peter, who does not know that she is a successful singer.

With her daughter Anita, a young singer, the widow Marianne von der Halden undertakes a journey into the past. She wants to see her former admirers again. One of them is the chamber singer Paul Schneider, who only remembers his childhood sweetheart with irony. They meet the former student Werner Birkner at his wedding, where Anita meets the teacher Michael Brantner. But the encounters make no impression on Marianne. Until she meets her former great love again at a concert given by her daughter, the general director Elmers. The concert is a resounding success and Marianne reconnects with Elmers, who is still unaware that Anita is his daughter.
