Ivan Canabrava is a writer, turned insurance ivestigator who investigates mysterious deaths involving Bufo Marinus. Bufo Marinus is a frog poison causing catalepsy in humans, simulating death, enabling grand insurance fraud and other crimes. Ten years later, now as a successful writer, similar characters possibly using Bufo Marinus reappear and create an intricate plot full of surprises.

Felício, an old comedian, is in decadence after his partner Mandarim's suicide. The former expert in fireworks, José Clementino gets a job as a bricklayer in the construction of a magnificent shopping center, one of the many works carried out by the construction engineer, César Toledo. During the feast of the ridge, where engineers and workers gather to celebrate the laying of the slab work, Clementino's wife flirts with several men. At one point, when he gives for the missing woman, Mason goes looking for her and is in a far corner of the building having sex with two men. Overcome with rage, Clementino kills his wife and one of the men paddle strokes. The family hears the screams and Toledo contains Clementino, with the help of a group of workers. Shocked by the violence of the employee, the employer called the police, and even later, an indictment against him at trial. His testimony is crucial to the conviction of Clementino, to discover their terrible crimes and audacious, which is a court suspicious.

Saramandaia is a Brazilian telenovela originally written by Dias Gomes in 1976. It's considered remarkable because of the Magic Realism (used by the author to subtly criticize the Military Regime of the time) and had 160 chapters. The story centers on the name change that the city undergoes, promoted by the younger citizens and reviled by the older ones. It also focuses on the lives of the city's quirky residents.

As Pupilas do Senhor Reitor is a Brazilian telenovela produced by SBT and originally broadcast from December 6, 1994, to July 8, 1995. Based on the 1867 novel of the same name by Portuguese writer Júlio Dinis, it was adapted by Lauro César Muniz, with scripts by Bosco Brasil, Ismael Fernandes, Analy A. Pinto, Aziz Bajur, and Zeno Wilde under the supervision of Chico de Assis. The telenovela stars Juca de Oliveira, Débora Bloch, Luciana Braga, Eduardo Moscovis, and Tuca Andrada. Os Ossos do Barão is a Brazilian telenovela produced by SBT and originally broadcast from April 28 to September 8, 1997. It is an adaptation of Jorge Andrade's 1963 play of the same name, adapted for television by Walter George Durst, with collaboration from Duca Rachid, Mário Teixeira, and Marcos Lazarini. The telenovela stars Ana Paula Arósio, Tarcísio Filho, Juca de Oliveira, Othon Bastos, and Leonardo Villar. Set in São Paulo in 1948, the story follows Egisto Ghirotto, the wealthy son of Italian immigrants who dreams of gaining social prestige by marrying his son, Martino, to Isabel, the great-granddaughter of the late Baron of Jaraguá.
