Mahsun Supertitiz is an unemployed homeless man who steals cars at night so that he can sleep in a heated place during the winter. Mahsun lives in Rumelihisar, an old section of Istanbul, and makes ends meet by getting the local fishermen to help him. Mahsun loves the cars he robs, cleans and polishes them, and drives them through the streets of Rumelihisar during the daytime.

Despite the intense pressure from the environment and the fact that relatives do not accept the situation, Ali, who loves Fatma very much, is determined not to leave his wife. After years of depression, the couple has a child. But a wild bird that appears during a migration will upset all plans again.

Adil Hoca, a retired elementary school teacher, has been assigned to his hometown. While waiting for his retirement, he receives a hard slap from a young police officer in the town, and his pride is severely hurt. Determined to ensure that justice is served by having the young police officer punished, Adil Hoca does not let the slap go. By the time the mistake comes to light, it emerges that the Turkish family, including the baby, has been deported. The despairing Austrian couple begins a confusing odyssey through Turkey in order to track down the unsuspecting family to their native village. But they are not at all convinced that the babies have been mixed up. It is decided that the only way to know for sure is to have a blood test done. It is decided that the blood work is done in Vienna due to the better medical resources, but that will be far from simple. It will involve an illegal smuggling of the Turks across the Austrian border.
