On the disclosure by the criminal investigation department of a crime that occurred in 1947.

It shows the life of a man who lost his memory after a car accident. It's like a person is being reborn. But the new life does not bring happiness to the hero. Well-mannered, with good manners, he asks his friend, "What kind of person was I?" And gets an answer: "You were a heavy drinker." All the hero's attempts to establish contact with the world around him end in failure, and the final scene is very dramatic.

The action takes place shortly before the Victory in the ruins of Berlin. But it is not the military actions that are at the center of what is happening, but the fate of people, their sorrows and hopes. A young first-year Dandelion, drafted in the last days of the war, suffers completely childishly from the fact that he will not get military glory. His older friend, Dervoed, in front of whom his wife and son died, is suffering unable to cope with the mental pain. In contrast, the Rebel, who was taken to the military enlistment office right from his own wedding, is nervous and fierce. A real "war dog", he only knows how to kill. What to do when the war is over, where to put yourself?

A detective film with some serious depth. Called back from Moscow on a search for a missing person, this is a story of a man forced to plunge into the past, reminded at every turn of the previous life he led in Saint Petersburg. He must come to terms with the present to move forward - and on top of it all, he's not even sure he's awake. The over-arching presence of St Petersburg, sometimes benign, sometimes threatening, bears witness to his journey.

In the center of the plot is a senior investigator named Masha Shvetsova and her male colleagues. The plot is the most vital, but, like in “Streets of Broken Lanterns,” it is seasoned with a fair amount of humor - otherwise, how can the audience (and the heroes) endure countless morgues, identifications and other “cute” charms of the investigative routine?
