A historical drama about the tragic fate of Nadezhda Alliluyeva, a woman who remained in the shadow of her husband Joseph Stalin. In 1918, 16-year-old Nadezhda married 38-year-old Joseph Stalin, a close friend of the Alliluyev family. The love of Nadezhda and Joseph develops against the backdrop of important historical events - revolutions, wars, arrests, and every year Stalin seizes more and more power. Realizing the terrible essence of her beloved husband, Nadezhda still remains faithful to him. But how long can she withstand this struggle with herself?

The main character of the film, Lieutenant Yuri Nikitin, despite his young age, is appointed commandant of the small town of Jericho on the Elbe. At the same time, Nikitin must take on quite serious responsibilities for improving life in the town. The four—storey building is the commandant's office of Jericho. The house used to belong to Hans Lemke, the owner of a pig farm, bakery and cheese factory. The townspeople think Lemke is dead, but he's alive. He hides in a tunnel and watches everything that happens in the town through the optical sight of a sniper rifle, especially the young officer who has settled in his house.

Set in contemporary Moscow, this comedy drama from 72-year-old director Pyotr Todorovsky is a remake of Abram Room's controversial silent film Bed and Sofa (1927). Actor Sergei leaves his wife and drops in on friend Kostya, married to Rita. Rita and Sergei pair off after Kostya goes away on a business trip, and when Kostya returns, they become a threesome. Todorovsky's film examines life in a provincial Russian town (that is too small to even appear on the map) just outside of Stalingrad during the famous WWII Battle. This is NOT a traditional war film, and the epic events of the battle take place almost entirely off screen. Instead, Todorovsky outlines a crude love triangle between three young people caught up in the harsh Russian winter. The stark winter settings, and the characters' struggle for survival, are what make this film one worth watching.
