Konstantin Berdikov

Klava Ivanova and Pyotr Spirin work in the same railroad depot. They have a strange relationship. Clava, who tenderly and devotedly loves the frivolous Pyotr, one day decides to break up with him.

During the Gorbachev years, Platon Makovski and his four buddies are university students who jump on the private capitalism movement. Fast-forward 20 years, Platon finds himself the richest man in Russia, having sacrificed his friends to get to the top. But with this cynical rise, comes a brutal fall.

The driver and the forwarder, who came on a business trip, drank everything they had and the next morning they went to ask passers-by for money. There was a kind person who gave them a large sum, but instead of gratitude, the drunkards interrogated the donor with bias...

Knowing that he will soon pass on, elderly Valentin Grack hires private detective Stanislav to follow him around for an entire day and write down everything that he does. It is a cold day and during Grack's travels he encounters a younger woman who addresses him as professor. He then meets a prostitute who turns out to be his daughter, and finally he meets an old woman, his worried wife who has been searching eight days for him. In between meeting the women, Grack finds himself in some almost surreal situations and having flashbacks about his youth.

A.N. Ostrovsky recalls the first period of his creative work (1849–1859), when he began collaborating with the Maly Theatre and with masters of the Russian stage such as L.P. Kositskaya, M.S. Shchepkin, and P.M. Sadovsky. Almost every character in this film is a real historical figure.

About the fate of Nikolai Pavlovich Shmidt, a Moscow factory owner who dreamed of improving the condition of workers not only at his own enterprise but throughout Russia.

The characters remember their youth, which took place during the Civil War. The events of those years had a decisive impact on their lives - Kolobov became a career officer, and Svedomsky became a famous pianist.
