Directed by Bolotbek Shamshiyev, the movie shows Kyrgyzstan under early Soviet rule; and tells us about opium contrabanda across the border.

The action takes place in the 1930s and 1940s in Chukotka. With the establishment of Soviet power, changes are coming to the camp. The main character — hunter Poygin — does not realize the significance of what is happening immediately. There is a series of events: a collision with a Black shaman who tried to take away a beloved woman from a hunter, a meeting with the head of the cultural base Medvedev, etc. Poygin observes the events that ultimately determine his life position. He becomes chairman of the first collective farm in Chukotka.

An old man decides to find the body of his son, a Kazakh soldier who died fighting somewhere in Russia, to bury him in the land of his ancestors. Travelling across the land with his grandson, they discover the harsh reality of war. And when they finally find the coveted grave, they realise that many brothers-in-arms are buried with the soldier. Every inch of the great homeland becomes the land of our fathers, the land of the ancestors...

At the collective farm’s animal-breeding station, the young naturalists lose a fox named Serebryanka, which has run away. The children ask an old hunter, Mukhtar-aga, to catch the fox with the help of a golden eagle. The hunter agrees. In the duel with the fox, however, the eagle is defeated. Mukhtar-aga is distressed: the bird is no longer fit for hunting. Then the children decide to catch a young eaglet and give it to Mukhtar-aga. Khasen and Sasha set off for the mountains…

The granddaughter of the old man Jagpara Sabira is beautiful, spoiled, cunning. Several young men immediately fall in love with her. They all hope to get a positive response from her and calmly go to the front. Sabira does not openly deny reciprocity to any of them. As a sign of respect, she gives a white rose to the lovers of the horseman. Every horseman, not knowing that Sabira gave the same white rose to everyone else, hopes for her love. But she sends all the horsemen to her grandfather for a final answer.

Taylak is a kind teacher of geography. People call him "Angel in a tubeteika, a traditional Central Asian skull cap," for his kind caring personality and also because he never parts with his traditional skull cap. One day his mother comes to Almaty to visit him. She decides that it's time her son got married and she starts to look for a bride for Taylak.

The young hero, after studying, returns to his native Chukotka and begins an independent life...
