Prajapati

'Prajapati' is the story of Sukhen who grows up neglected to become a rough person with a heart of gold. Shikha, Sukhen's beloved wants him to lead a normal and healthy life. His elder brothers are political leaders who work only for their personal gains. His eldest brother Keshav runs a drug business behind his medical business. His second brother Purnendu is a corrupt man who kills the young maid of their house. Sukhen attempts to stop the fatal rift growing between his brothers but is killed while doing so.

Indrajit

Biswajit is a renowned barrister. He has two younger brothers, named Indrajit and Abhisek. He along with his two younger brothers creates a very happy family. Indrajit joins the police force by the recommendation of MLA Suprakash Sanyal. Indrajit is a honest, sincere and brave police officer, on the other hand Abhisek slowly enters into a wrong path. Indrajit does not concentrate properly in family. So he has some conflicts and differences with his wife. At this juncture a rape case investigation is handed over to him. A member of the Sanyal's gang named Raja has done that crime. So Indrajit arrested him and placed the file before court. When the trial is almost at the end of its proceedings, then Sanyal's men kidnapped Indrajit's son. Release of Raja is their only demand and they convey it to Indrajit. The action is seen through the eyes of Shubhendu Chatterjee who has come to the Mela not out of any religious sentiment but to see and understand people and seek the reason why “….multitudes upon multitudes of the old and weak and the young and frail enter without hesitation or complaint upon such incredible journeys and endure the resultant miseries without repining.” (Mark Twain after visiting the 1895 Mela)

A small company advertises for 100 vacancies and 30,000 apply. The applicants are all from the ranks of the poor and there is a virtual riot. Everyone around is seeking for opportunities. Among them are the applicants who desperately need the job, the photographer who is busy seeking a scoop, the village moneylender who is busy exploiting the poor, the ineffective police, the employers who are advertising posts even while a six month old strike has nearly caused the workmen to become destitute. It is a story of society captured in a tiny framework of a small business. Ultimately, the workmen, the unemployed and the farmers all get to gether to protest against this exploitation.

Inspector Ashok Sharma is assigned to take over as Inspector In-Charge of a remote police station, which he does. The next day, Shah finds out that the person his men fought with is no other than the new Inspector In-charge, and he goes to pay homage, but Ashok refuses. Then Shah and the local MLA spin a web of lies and deceit, in which Ashok is accused of killing a man in custody, and as a result he may face criminal charges and also lose his job.
