Scholar Qin Kun rescued a giant clam shell from a group of mischievous children, unaware that the shell was actually the true form of the clam spirit, Meiniang. At this moment, Qin Kun was targeted by the female demon of the Yin Wind Cave, his life hanging by a thread. To repay his kindness, the clam spirit offered herself to Qin Kun, becoming his wife. Mr. and Mrs. Ho are longing for a grandson. Their son, Ho Chieh and daughter-in-law, Wan Ping, come home from abroad. Wan Ching, the little sister-in-law, is a nurse and comes with Mrs. Ho to meet her sister. At the airport, old Mrs. Ho mistakenly hears that her daughter-in-law is pregnant. After that, Ho Chieh has to attend a business party. However, his wife is not free for it so he begs his little sister-in-law to go as his wife. Wan Ching turns out to be a hit with the guests. In order to please his mother, Chieh asks little sister-in-law to take Wan Ping to the hospital for a pregnancy test and get a false positive report. But through a mistake, Wan Ping gets the report of a sterile woman. She is saddened by it but everyone lies to the old people in order to spare them the disappointment...

Wang Chieh is a young man who's in love with a girl, Yang Wan-ru. However, Yang tells her friend, Tang Hwa, that she's fond of another boy, Kang Ping. Tang Hwa host a party at her place and announces to everyone there that she's engaged to Kang Ping. Yang is heartbroken and later agrees to marry Wang if he's able to pay for her mother's medical bills. He fulfilled his promise and they end up marrying each other. Years later, Wang gets himself into trouble with drugs and goes to jail. Yang returns to her hometown and finds out that Tang Hwa is married but not to Kang Ping. Yang starts an affair with Kang but realizes that he's just a womanizer. Yang returns home and wait for her husband to be released from prison.

Wang Yan-ru is a very popular nightclub singer, she also teaches at the orphanage where she is brought up. She has always hoped that talents in the orphanage could form their own chorus and eventually stand on their own feet. Chang Chi-cheng is in Taiwan with a tour group from Malaysia. Much to his amazement, he finds out the dual identity of Yan-ru, both as a teacher and a singer. He quickly falls in love with her. He too is very fond of the children in the orphanage. He helps them to get what they want. Finally, he wins her affection. The affair is eventually brought to the attention of Chang's parents who are tipped off by his cousin Yu-ping. It so happens that Yu-ping is also in love with Chi-cheng...
