This lyrical psychological film is about true friendship. The characters in the film are contemporaries in of late 1970s Azerbaijan SSR with differing visions of the world, yet sharing true and lasting friendship.

Russians once called Kokui a settlement inhabited by foreigners. It was believed that the customs prevailing in such settlements had nothing to do with Russian national customs. Such a "Kokui" was the base near Moscow, located in a corner of paradise, where every morning rescue sailor Natasha swam naked and, perhaps, therefore seemed accessible to everyone. The film is based on real historical facts of the First World War. The action takes place in Galicia. Metropolitan Andrey, the head of the Uniate Church, who wants to permanently link Western Ukraine with the Austrian crown, assigns Roman, a young cornet of the Austrian army, to guard the archives at St. George's Cathedral. But Roman, having familiarized himself with the contents of some materials, is going to make secret documents public...

Following the Russian Civil War, a loyal Red, Shilov, must prove he is at home among strangers as he attempts to recapture a shipment of gold that he was supposed to deliver to Moscow. Needed as a means of buying food for the people, the gold Shilov was entrusted with is stolen, initially by a group of assassins and then by a group of bandits. In tracking the gold’s whereabouts, Shilov’s motives are questioned and he is suspected of treason, in part because his brother was a devoted White. In an effort to clear his name, Shilov locates the gold, but he also discovers rampant greed and corruption.

Aurora dreams about becoming a talented ballet dancer one day. However, life is not so simple. 12-year-old orphan Aurora Nedelina lives in an orphanage in Pripyat and accidentally becomes a witness to the explosion at the Chernobyl APP. Having received a critical dose of radiation, she is sent to an American hospital where she meets the rich American Russian, Nick Astakhov--the world-famous dancer who had emigrated from the USSR 15 years prior. Nick is talented, successful, young, yet disappointed in life. Meeting up with Aurora helps Nick turn it all around. However, with each day, Aurora fades away a little more.
