After serving time for sexual assault, a disgraced cop finds work as a private detective and becomes enmeshed in a bizarre web that includes a gangster and his former girlfriend…the same woman who sent the cop to prison years before.

Single mother Nadia is surviving on welfare while transport strikes are paralyzing France in December 1995. The film, shot almost entirely at night, carries documentary qualities, part of which is due to the appearances of actual railroad workers in several group scenes.

These dramatics eventually exasperate her best friend Sophie so much that she contemplates killing Penelope, her ex-boyfriend, or the two of them together, just to stop the whining.
