A Parisian cabaret dancer Emilia finds herself under the scrutiny of aristocratic British military officer Jerome Hautrix, who catches her act while on furlough during WWI. A silent film about the famous Shakespearean actor Edmund Kean, whose life intertwines with a young woman, Anna Damby, and Countess Koefeld. Kean, inspired by the Countess, becomes entangled in a plot involving Anna, her guardian, and a roué named Lord Melville. The story culminates in a benefit performance where Kean's passionate denouncement of the Prince of Wales leads to his downfall.

The Mercury hires Scoop, and there begins a heated rivalry between him and Pat. Pat gets a few lucky breaks and manages to get a beat on Scoop during her brief career. After she exposes the theft of a jewel from the turban of a visiting maharajah, she and Scoop are kidnapped by Clayton, the thief, and taken aboard his yacht. Rescued, she and Scoop find love and happiness.

Ida is married to small-time Montana prospector Gregory Compton. She's bored and lonely, so a friend, wealthy widow and woman of the world Ora Blake, easily gets her to share a trip to Europe. There, Ida lives the high life amid the continent's rich and carefree, but soon grows weary of it, wishing she were home again with her true love. Back in Butte, Gregory has hit a gold strike and telegraphs Ida of his luck. Ora however, with a secret love for Gregory, sabotages Ida's response by rewriting the return cable to indicate Ida will return, but only for a share in the gold. When the travelers return to Montana, Ida has found out about what backstabbing Ora has done, and fight it out at the mine, but unaware of their presence, the now-disillusioned Gregory intends on blowing up the mine at the same time.

Ned, who has learned of the divorce, comes looking for Helen and meets her at Solomon's party. Lady Helen is so humiliated and ashamed that she rushes from the house and throws herself in front of an automobile.
