Zebercet is an obsessive man living a monotonous life in a hotel with few customers. This monotonous life changes with the arrival of a woman who does not even give her name. She stays only one night in the room she has rented and leaves the hotel to come back a week later.

A victim of a forced marriage who has stabbed her husband finishes her sentence. When she is released from the prison she starts working at a factory under harsh conditions. Soon a poet falls for her, and gives her a new hope in love.

A peasant woman who cannot bear children for her husband agrees to take in a concubine as a result of pressure from her community and finds the concubine herself. The new woman is also unable to bear children. However, the first woman becomes pregnant in the meantime. The jealous concubine slanders her, and the villagers tie the woman they call a "whore" to a tree to kill her. Her husband arrives in time to rescue her, and they leave the village.

In this film that wavers unsteadily between a comedy and a tragedy, Murtaza (Mujdat Gezen) is a deluded security guard whose fanatical reverence for "duty" verges on the psychotic. One of the daughters ends up working in the factory to help the family out financially, and when Murtaza finds her sleeping on the job one night he hits her so hard she eventually dies from the blow. Though that is not the end of it, by any means.

Duygu, who works as a translator at a translation agency, experiences loneliness with her doctor husband Yılmaz, although she does not know the exact reason why. The young woman takes refuge in her childhood to escape her inner conflicts and remembers the days when she and her brother Hâluk used to collect fireflies.
