When Herra, a young Czech woman, falls in love with Nazir, an Afghan, she has no idea what kind of life awaits her in post-Taliban Afghanistan, nor of the family she is about to integrate into. A liberal grandfather, an adopted child who is highly intelligent and Freshta, who would do anything to escape her husband's violent grip.

Vašek learns that he is dying, so he steals a painting and goes to Rome to sell it – he needs money for a healer. Sitting on a train with a fake mustache on his face, he has no idea that he has, in fact, been sent on a spiritual quest of his life by a beautiful girl. In the end, his train will take some of them to hell, others to enlightenment or a bizarre epiphany. The film takes a humorous view on all the basic philosophical questions we have heard so many times but that we have yet to find the answers to.

Four old friends decide to shake up their unhappy, monotonous lives with a friendly bet and set off a series of unexpected events.

Two crafty swindlers, Berta and Vitouš, settle in a remote Brdy tavern once inhabited by devils and, when a hellish inspection arrives, impersonate true demons by enlisting the hopelessly inept devil apprentice Záprtek. Their quest leads them to a castle where a kindly king and a beautiful princess await, but they must also outwit treacherous chancellors and foil their malicious schemes.
