Senior Lieutenant of the Navy Aleksey Alekhin, once descending to the seabed in a bathyscaphe, finds himself in a strange underwater cave that serves as a portal to a fabulous world. In this new unfamiliar place, he meets a little dragon left without a mother. Aleksey unwittingly becomes the dragon's guardian and friend and gives the baby the name Gorynych.

Avdotya, a mother of many children, tries to take care of the girl, but she herself has seven children to feed. Only when the village priest, Father Alexander, appears in the path of the persecuted child does a new story begin - a story of taming and love.

Tricksters, evil spirits, noblemen, and other characters of the 'King and Jester' song verse make their way into the lives of Gorshenev and his bandmates.
