The brothers Kipp and Most set off to inherit their grandmother's estate. Along the way, they meet Viktor, a deserted Russian soldier who kidnaps them, and Nadine, who joins them voluntarily. On their way to their inheritance, the protagonists get into some seemingly hopeless situations.

This farmer comedy is about a completely normal and very average cat who the nasty neighbor claims has chosen his purebred chicken chicks as his favorite food. The neighbor responds with a sharp shot from a hunting rifle. As a result, the cat is fatally shot and the cat owner is deeply wounded. The argument begins, there is talk of murder and crime, the dispute escalates through three acts until the - naturally conciliatory - conclusion: it turns out that everything was "for nothing".

Widow Brasse goes to great lengths to support her children and her elderly grandfather. Poverty and irritation are a constant state of affairs in the family, as there is not enough money to go around, even though Johanna Brasse washes clothes for strangers day after day. But as life goes, one day Grandpa Philipp is hit by a car and the widow senses a good deal. Although Grandpa is not injured, he is put to bed and given a proper bandage. All the preparations are made to extract a good deal of compensation from the remorseful driver. But everything turns out quite differently.

Otto Sanftleben has had enough of the nudity on display everywhere in the big city of Hamburg. So he returns to the Lüneburg Heath. But there are now naked people there too - and his filmmaker colleague is also very interested in capturing the naked girls with his camera...

Widow Lührs only receives a meagre pension and is therefore reliant on supplementary income, so she plays commercial cards without permission! One day, farmer Henck from Schandeloh appears at her house, who wants to scare his bossy wife with the help of the cards. Wilhelmine Lührs hesitates, but ham, sausage and money finally persuade her to change her mind. She lays out the cards for Mrs. Henck just as her husband had wished. But the fraud is discovered and Mrs. Lührs has to appear before the public prosecutor. But even in court, the ludicrous Wilhelmine manages to use her wisdom to cleverly get out of the affair.

The nightclub "Zum Klabautermann" in St. Pauli is a cheerful place where people like to meet. Every evening, when the two bargemen wrap the guests in sailor's yarn as supposed sailors on a long voyage and Lotti, known as "Das laufende Glück", knits the clientele, things get very lively. Can landlady Hermine prevent a competitor from poaching her "artistic" staff...?

The village tailor Witt has been burgled, and he himself has received a nasty blow to the head! The seriousness of the crime means that the gendarme in charge does not investigate the case alone - the new head of the district is eager to take over. The head of the parish, Kreyenborg, slyly supports the criminal investigation by getting help from his servant Willem, a man of "plietscher Dröhnbüdeligkeit (a charmingly clever annoyance)". The young vet Renken is also happy to help him, which his daughter Lena warmly welcomes. After confusing statements from Trina, the tailor's wife, the question arises: is there something to cover up?

Sculptor Max Kolbe has rented a room with the Käselau family as a "furnished gentleman" to escape his love-struck bride and to work in peace for an exhibition. But he is not safe from anything in this tenement: the women's lives seem to be dominated by gossip, curiosity and envy. But the men are no better! Kolbe's false name and his actions arouse the strongest suspicions in the house: why doesn't he go to work? Is he doing shady business? What are the young ladies looking for with him?

In the sailors' pub "Die Königin von Honolulu" in Hamburg's St. Pauli district in 1910, the sailors are sitting grumpily and pestering their wages master, Krischon Honolulu, to finally get them a ship, as their coffers are at low tide. Then the sailor Scharli appears and reports that an American luxury yacht has arrived, owned by the millionaire William Thomson, a "madman" and misogynist who throws his money around. Eight sailors are wanted for a voyage around the world, including to Honolulu.

Skoda is the son of a wealthy, overbearing banker and rather than put up with his father to keep a privileged lifestyle, he has chosen to ditch the relationship and drive a taxi for a living. The film follows Skoda on his nightly rides through the city, and though different characters come and go, Skoda meets a kindred spirit in the form of a teenage woman who finds her own home life equally difficult to shoulder. The two young people are gradually attracted to each other, and they end up one night in Skoda's room together. At that moment, the older woman that Skoda had been involved with opens the door and discovers his infidelity. Skoda is living in her house and driving the taxi she gave him -- her commitment was abundantly clear from the beginning. Pushed over the edge, the older woman commits suicide -- and Skoda is blamed for her death by her ex-husband. He swears to avenge her, and the hunt for Skoda begins.
