Merchant Valentin Skog runs the small town's grocery shop and folk park with little revenue but a lot of heart. But the no-good profiteers brothers Grym has their eyes on his business, and will use any means. The dirtier the better! But they haven't counted on "The Doll"- a fresh breeze from the big city - or rather storm wind - who blows life in the struggle against the crooks.

Ola is a pop idol, touring with his band in Sweden in the mid-60's. Julia is a young actress in a traveling theatre company. They meet and fall in love.

Johannes, an ex-con now working as a antiques dealer, is faced with a huge debt. He is put under pressure to pay and agrees to steal the Russian crown jewels on exhibition onboard a cruise ship.

The most popular bands in Sweden are travelling from Stockholm to Gothenburg for a pop contest. The problem is that no one has the money needed to get to Gothenburg, and no one wants the other bands to reach the destination. Matte and Kranken are best buddies. When they want to go on a cycling holiday in Gotland Matte decides to bring his new girlfriend Lisa with him, despite Krankens objections. Lisa turns out to be much more attractive than Kranken imagined and soon the problems begin to loom over the horizon.

Melodifestivalen (direct translation: The Melody Festival) is an annual music competition organised by Swedish public broadcaster Sveriges Television (SVT). The competition is a six part tour (5 heats + the final) with stops in cities across Sweden to determine the country's representative for the Eurovision Song Contest. Melodifestivalen is also known informally as "Mello", or internationally as "Melfest".
