The two men constantly play cards with each other in symbolic stakes, and Béla Bognár's wife, Piri, runs the household. However, the atmosphere is good, and they quote dialogues appropriate to the given situation from the texts of their roles.

Solicitor Lukács is well known for his expertise in divorce. He lets a room and while he is away, Csahos, his articled clerk, in charge of business affairs in the absence of the solicitor, leaves almost all of the flat to Székely Klári, a pretty university student. Lukács, while driving his car to Siófok, accidentally bumps into his wife and their friend, Bognár Miklós. Misunderstanding the situation, he asks for a divorce.

Emmy, the colonel's daughter, visits the army post. The Hussar officers are all contemplating the question of whom Emmy is going to bestow her favours on. So far Pálóczy had the best chances, but now Korponay László, troubled by his indebtedness and his love-affair with an actress, sets his eyes on her. The lieutenant, sobering down, is even willing to renounce his rank for Emmy, and her heart eventually goes to him.
