Subho O Debotar Gras was a film in 2 parts- one was the story of the deaf-mute Shubha who features in a short story by Rabindranath Tagore & the second part was based on the poem titled "Debotar Gras", in which Tagore describes the frantic desire of a dip in holy waters during the Ganga Sagar pilgrimage as well as the selfishness of the pilgrims.

Troyee is the story of a simple man (Mithun), his life, love and relationship.

Mithu Mukherjee belonged to a poor family. Her father was suffering from a chronic disease. They didn't have enough money to buy his medicines. Her father (Asit Baran)'s friend had cheated him due to which they had to mortgage even their house to him. Mithu Mukherjee decided to help her family and came out of her house in search ofa job. At last she got a job in a company which however stopped its business within a few months' time. She then joined a hotel where she met Uttam Kumar. Uttam Kumar was a bar singer there. He was a singer in disguise and he used to help distressed women who were exploited by the so-called upper class rich people. Mithu Mukherjee (Khuku) was helped by Uttam Kumar who helped her family get her ancestral house back. At last Uttam Kumar gave all the secret details of those people to the police and took his leave.

Shekhar and Lalita love each other, but Shekhar's father brainwashes him to marry a rich woman. When Girin enters Lalita's life, Shekhar begins to feel insecure about Lalita's relationship with him.

Shakuntala's father dies an untimely death leaving her with the responsibilities of her mother and two young brothers. She paints and works hard to run their expenses but is not ready to bow down or beg before anyone. They go to their maternal aunt Sudha’s house for her daughter’s wedding. Kuntala is angry with Sudha for not keeping in touch with them and answering her letters. Later it is revealed that Sudha’s marital family had kept the letters. Soumitra is an eligible bachelor who falls in love with Kuntala. But Kuntala avoids him.

Heeru, Naren, and Chandranath were friends. From his college days, Chandranath had been aspiring and ambitious. He is also a man of strict principles in life. He leaves his brother and sister-in-law and goes away to gain immense power and knowledge. In the meantime, he marries and is blessed with a kid. However, Chandranath's quest to learn more drives him to leave his new family as well as he sets off to achieve new goals in life. He not only fails to fulfill his request but ends up losing his family too. On the other hand, Naren hails from a rich family and is a happy-go-lucky-natured man. He appreciates the finer aspects of life. He falls in love with a courtesan and brings her home. Caught between the two friends who have opposite ambitions in life, Heeru wonders which path would bring contentment in one's life. However, Heeru loses control of his life and slowly realizes that his life has become a mirror of Chandranath's life.

Ghetu, a young woman with a dark complexion, is always compared to her beautiful sister (Sharmila Tagore). Her life changes for the worse after her lover dies and she has to face society's disdain.
