Andula, an innocent Czech girl from a factory town, is desperately in search of love. She believes she's found it when she beds Milda, a charming young musician visiting from Prague. Milda, however, is only looking for a casual encounter, and leaves town assuming he'll never see Andula again. But when Andula doesn't hear from him, she packs up and heads to Prague, to the surprise of Milda and his parents.

But it turns out that nothing can be done without strictness and that greed is not some kind of deviant perversion. In this comedy you will find not only great musical numbers, but also a lot of gags from the military environment. It is also the first film in which the famous semaphore duo Suchý and Šlitr appeared.

The Ronov castle has been changed into a hotel, offering stylish facilities to its guests: weddings in the torture chamber, a Black Lancer kidnapping brides, a night's lodging in a family tomb etc. The reformed petty swindler Felix Pacínek (Bohumil Smída) runs the hotel. All parents come together — only one set is missing, the parents of Sylvester, the best boy in the world. The congress decides to go see him so he can lead the other children by example. Sylvester is truly an exceptional child, but his "being good at all times and under all circumstances" somewhat gets out of hand.
