A house in Abbaseya is divided into two parts: the first is the basement, where poor people live and dream of ascending the social ladder, while in the other part the rich residents live. Although both worlds are extremely distant, they are only bound by romance, as the film follows love affairs between contrasting characters from both worlds.

1950 Cairo, Amin is a simple employee who lives with his family of three, his wife Zahira, son Nabil and daughter Hoda. Amin’s friend Mabrouk convinces Amin to invest his life savings in a project, which he promises, will get him rich. Amin agrees but forgets to take a receipt. Amin suddenly dies and watches on from the after life.

Gaber Effendi is a simple employee at Ezbet Omar al-Alfi's, expelled by the head of the family after Jabir discovers that there is fraud in the accounts of the estate. Gaber meets with Berlanti, the wife of Omar Bey's, noting a great similarity between him and her absent husband in India, Omar. Following the advice of a legal advisor, Omar Bey's family believes that he is still alive and living in India. By chance, Jaber Effendi goes to Omar's house and is seen by the family and gets married, but Omar finds out the truth and tries to exploit the resemblance to seize wealth, but ultimately fails.

Two friends, Sami, a journalist, and Mukhtar, a businessman, marry two sisters, Fatima and Azza, in one night. Over time, the lives of the two sisters differ after marriage, and each of them tries to find happiness.

Uncle Abdel Fattah forces his nephew Anwar to marry so that he does not deprive him of the inheritance. Anwar does marry, but one day he goes with his friend to a cabaret and meets Tahia, the dancer, who brings him back home drunk. The uncle comes to confirm his nephew's marriage and finds Tahia, who claims that she is his wife. When his real wife appears, he introduces her as his friend's wife.

This comedy revolves around Wahid, a happily married composer who has a one-off dream about kissing Boussa, his gorgeous neighbor and his wife Latifah’s best friend. He feels guilty, and foolishly confesses this to Latifah, who naturally becomes suspicious and concludes he and Boussa are having an affair. The misunderstandings worsen tenfold when Latifah lets her parents in on the situation.
