Located in a seaside village in Maharashtra during the 60s, the film unfolds over two decades. It is a tragic tale of how the best of friendships can rupture over a trivial quarrel. Once a rupture takes place, there are always people who know how to turn a quarrel to their own advantage, even if the main adversaries are completely destroyed in the process.

What do you do when the world has moved on leaving you behind? Bhavābdhi means the ocean of life. The film revolves around a popcorn seller in a single screen theatre and how he deals with the closure of the theatre he has spent a majority of his life in. The film takes inspiration from the rampant rise of multiplexes and rampant closures of single screens throughout the country.

Set in the 70's in rural India, four 9th grade kids were writing their destiny. Joshi (14) is madly in love with Shirodkar (14) a beautiful Indian looking girl. Both study in the same class. The age old question "What is love anyway?"

The story revolves around Dr. Aarti Deshmukh, a mother of a daughter, is tasked with investigating the medical systems involved in female foeticide. In front of the conscientious Aarti who does her job well, Dr. Purushottam stands as a challenge. Despite many attempts, Aarti does not find any evidence against Purushottam. Purushottam eventually uses his powers to transfer Aarti, but in the days remaining before the transfer, Aarti takes up the task of gathering evidence.

It is a story is based over the emotions of a postman at a remote rural village and a school-going boy called Rangya. During earlier times there were hardly a few educated individuals in any village such as a teacher, Patwari and a postman. They were therefore worthy of honour and respect in the village. It is with this thread of the bonding between villagers and the postman that makes up the story of Tapaal.

A stingy farmer whose family leaves him because of his silly actions. From then on, he quirkily attempts to regain his family as well as their respect for him.

Gangaram alias Ganga has been raised by his foster parents who reside in the village thus he gets accustom to village life. 24 years later his birth parents multi-millionaire Avinash and his wife Radha comes to ask him to move into their bungalow located in the city to which Ganga agrees and goes to bid farewell to his friends and girlfriend Saawni. While in the city Ganga is introduced to his elder brother, Milind, his wife, Supriya, and his younger brother; Ganga finds it very hard to adjust to the city life and is often scuffed at. Avinash arranges his marriage with equally wealthy Tina to which he agrees although he is not comfortable with this marriage as he is still in love with Saawni; meanwhile Ganga's honest policy gets him and his new found family into further problems.

Police Inspector Samar Pratap Singh is transferred to Motihari, in the Indian state of Bihar, along with his wife, Manjari and a daughter. He is honest and diligent and these attributes sets him up against his superior - the District Superintendent of Police, as well as his subordinates and fellow officers.
