At a provincial film festival, a young director who unexpectedly wins the top prize spends one absurd night with his friends. While everyone around him is discussing the award, drinking, falling in love, arguing about the coolness of the Husky, waking up the plane, the main character gradually understands that the real value of this night is not the victory or the movie, but random intimacy with a person.

While returning to Leningrad from a visit to his brother, Professor Artyom's car breaks down and he finds assistance at an isolated farmhouse occupied by Alexey, his wife, a Vietnamese laborer, and a stranger who wanders around the farm.
