A traumatized and blind young man makes a living singing, and searching for his childhood sweetheart.

Three love stories that take place simultaneously but do not intersect, because the characters do not interact with each other, even though they all live in the same neighborhood. Govinda, a gloomy Airai boy who was cruelly separated from his beloved girlfriend, Chalvi, who was expelled from the village. Johnny Braganza, a waiter who has just been released from prison after being unjustly accused of falsifying the accounts of the hotel owner, Ferrara, who successfully seduces Johnny's girlfriend, Stella. Now he is setting up a car garage at the same intersection.

While studying in Aligarh Muslim University, Anwar Hussain Anwar falls in love with a veiled woman and is unable to get her out of his mind. En route to Lucknow, they meet with Nawab Buland Akhtar Changezi, and subsequently meet with him a few days later so that he can use his influence to secure an editor's job for Anwar with a magazine. Nawab then asks Anwar to teach his sister, Husna, some poetry, to which he agrees, and eventually finds that she is the very same veiled woman. Both fall in love with each other and the Nawab approves of this alliance, even though Anwar lives a poor lifestyle. The formal engagement ceremony takes place and arrangements are made for the wedding to take place soon. The heavily indebted Nawab does not realize that soon he will find Anwar in the company of a lowly courtesan, Najma; and pressure will be brought on him to get Husna to marry wealthy Munne Raja - who is all set to auction the former's mansion as well as belongings.

The arrival of a single proclamation throws a peaceful community into chaos, as one courageous voice is forced to take a stand against injustice, drawing the wrath of powerful, hidden forces.

Two friends with opposite personalities, the rich but sensitive Pran and the womanizing Gopal both have affairs with two mountain girls while holidaying in the valley of Kashmir. While Pran and Reshma's love is true and reciprocated, Gopal is a womanizing villain, who disregards the faithful Neela and condemns her to wait faithfully for his return with the barsaat (rainy season).

Kamini (Shyama) runs over a young man (Dev Anand), who is seriously injured. Kamini visits him daily even while he is unconscious. When he recovers, she is attracted to him, and sets him up with employment with her dad Seth Mothumal's (Gope) business as a manager. He dines at Mothumal's house by Kamini, where he comes across a mute maid-servant named Asha (Nimmi). Asha is attracted to him, and he also feels attracted towards her, little knowing that his past has come to re-visit him in her form, and not knowing the changes it will bring to his life.

A poor farmer conquers the love of an Indian princess, whose brother wants to kill their father to become king.

Shankar, who saw his poor father die a disappointed death, works very hard and goes on to become a mill owner. His brother Madhu, however, prefers to run their father's old tea stall.
