Three forty-year-olds friends, hockey player and football players, decide to end their sports careers at the same time. All three find themselves at the beginning of a new life and must choose the path they will take.

Pepa is a fifty-year-old civil servant living with his family in an ordinary district town. Pepa is somewhat henpecked, lacking respect even from his wife, let alone his daughter. Pepa knows that something has to change, and he even knows very well what that "something" is. But! The path to the goal is sometimes very thorny, and so we follow a series of more or less futile and tragicomic attempts by Pepa, the outsider hero, to finally start living his life. Will he manage to find answers to the questions "Why is he in the world? When does real life begin? After birth, after graduation, after first sex, after marriage or children? Or only after death?"

Ten years later, the people of Kamenákov are still stirring up trouble, including Pepa, who is now mayor and trying to establish a police force.

The aim is to strengthen the team, hone their work skills, and, above all, earn bonus points in the personal evaluation of the director, who has decided to kick-start his career by advancing to the branch management in the regional capital. To get promoted, he needs positive evaluations in all areas, including management activities, which he has completely neglected until now. Most employees have no idea what to expect. Fourteen-year-old Pavel, alias Pako, falls into an underground tunnel during an expedition near Lukov Castle, injures his spine, and is confined to a wheelchair. After several months of rehabilitation, he and his mother Věra find it difficult to accept that he will never walk again. Local castle warden Jaromír also has his own problems to deal with in Lukov, as he struggles with grief over the death of his beloved wife. Lukov mayor Karel Zlejšek and his wife Naďa refuse to admit that their relationship is not developing as they had imagined and that this is affecting their son Petr's behavior. Adam and Eva's marriage is also going through a crisis, but so far they have managed to hide it from their children Aničkou and Tadeáš, or Nyny and Dydyn. Tokár arrives in the village with his daughters Dragica and Štěpánka – Šmudla – and tries to fit into everyday life in Lukov.

Asteroid in Love

In a fateful childhood encounter, Mira Kinohata met a stargazing dreamer named Ao Manaka. Though their time together was short, Ao showed Mira the wonders of astronomy, from orbiting planets to distant stars. Before they parted, Mira learned that a star with her name exists, but there are none with Ao's. And so, she forged a promise: one day, she would discover a new asteroid and name it after Ao. Years later, Mira is still fascinated with astronomy. Now in high school at Hoshizaki Academy, she tries to join the Astronomy Club. Unfortunately, she finds out that the club has been merged with the Geology Club to form a single Earth Sciences Club. She joins this new club and finds a pleasant surprise—she reunites with Ao after years of separation. Alongside their new clubmates, Mira and Ao begin their journey together to fulfill their promise. How hard could it possibly be to find an asteroid?
