El Faro

Contou Rosalía is a telefilm (also broadcast as miniseries), of TVG, released on May 16, 2018, on the eve of Galician Letters Day, based on the life of Rosalía de Castro in Madrid.

The film tells the true story of Elisa Sánchez Loriga and Marcela Gracia Ibeas, two women in 1901 Spain who fell deeply in love. To overcome societal and legal barriers to their relationship, Elisa assumes a male identity, enabling the pair to marry in secret. Their daring act makes them the first recorded same-sex couple to marry in Spain, but their love is tested as they face relentless persecution and sacrifice.

1918, Castelao leaves his public position in Pontevedra to work as a doctor in Rianxo during the Spanish flu. A hero for the town, but an absent man for his wife, Virxinia. 1929, the couple travels through Britain a few months after the loss of their only son. 1927. Spain under the Primo de Rivera Dictatorship. The great actress, Margarita Xirgu and her company are about to perform "Maria Pineda" by a young Federico Garcia Lorca. The Dictatorship cannot tolerate it, but the actress, Margarita Xirgu, in the name of freedom will stand her ground.

Born into a humble family of Galician peasants, Carolina Otero decided to run away from home at the age of ten after suffering sexual abuse. In her personal quest for happiness and success, she traveled to countries such as France, the United States, and Russia, earning a living as an exotic dancer under the stage name "Bella Otero." In her eagerness to climb the social ladder, she became the mistress of very influential and powerful figures.
