Each episode features a central storyline in which two people meet. Originally, these were almost always completely different characters who had never met before; in Season 2, however, the main characters are often married couples, bosses and employees, coworkers, etc. Sketches are incorporated into the overarching plot, for example, when a character mentions a relative or an event.

Two families attempt a daredevil plan to escape the GDR with a homemade hot air balloon, but it crashes just before the border. The Stasi finds traces of this attempt to escape and immediately starts investigations, while the two families are forced to build a new escape balloon. With each passing day the Stasi is closer on their heels – a nerve-wracking race against time begins.

Abahachi, Chief of the Apache Indians, and his blood brother Ranger maintain peace and justice in the Wild West. His publishing house is also grateful to the exceptional journalist, because the paper's numbers are sinking and are being cushioned by Bogenius' reportage, among other things. Everything sounds too good to be true - at least that's the opinion of freelance journalist Juan Romero, who takes on the inconsistencies and looks deeper behind Bogenius' research and reportage. It's a dangerous plan that faces numerous obstacles. But what he discovers turns out to be the biggest journalism scandal in Germany.

The plot concerns a yeti who makes a pact with the devil to kidnap the most beautiful girl in the world. This turns out to be the Princess Lissi, who is clearly the Austrian Princess and later Empress Elisabeth of Bavaria, and much of the film is taken up with subplots related to the court and to the romantic relationship between Elisabeth and her husband. The film is thus a comic parody of the Sissi films.

On their adventure, Jim's most fervent wish might also come true: to find out the truth about his mysterious origins.
