Song of the South

Two young LGBTQ+ lovers in 1990s Saigon get entangled in the criminal underground and must do battle with dark forces that threaten their relationship and test the limits of their humanity.

Hanh is a dutiful wife and school teacher in a rural Vietnamese village who appears to enjoy a happy marriage. Childless, she insists her husband Phoung, the local school headmaster, take a second wife to bear him a baby. But in the small village, their secret is impossible to keep for long.

What seems at first the uneventful existence of an old married couple turns bizarre as alternate realities begin to emerge.

Hue battlefield in the 40s, when the boys aged 9 and 10, who were supposed to go to school, engaged in the war. Their innocence and patriotism had made many touching stories and characters that would stand the test of time.

Hieu and Lan are two close friends who come from the same orphanage, but their relationship fractures when a lavish, hedonistic heiress pays attention to Hieu and promises him a career upswing in Saigon’s art world.
