Brothers Kaj and Tommy are spending their summer vacation with their cousins Peter and Marianne, who are the same age, at Kullen in Skåne, while their parents go to Italy. The young people become involved in a tangled spy plot where it is not entirely clear who is on the good side and who is on the bad side. Espionage, mysterious light signals, and strange code words suddenly become part of everyday life, as do wild chases in mine tunnels, kidnappings, and nighttime break-ins. It will be a summer vacation they will never forget.

Pojken med guldbyxorna is a 1975 Swedish TV-series, based on an 1967 novel by Max Lundgren, that became very popular in Sweden and has since been shown numerous times on Swedish television. Granhyttan in Sweden used to have rich mines. One day a suspicious couple, Signe and Orvar, arrives in the small town and retires in a purged hut. Nobody knows what they up to; but strange things starts to happen when a young boy, Staffan, finds a piece of shining metal, while playing in a mine.

A young female scammer relying on her innocent blue eyes and ability to disguise herself tries to avoid the police that are getting ever closer.

Peter-No-Tail is a cat who's born without a proper tail on a farm by the Swedish countryside. Due to economical difficulties, the farmer is forced to get rid of Peter. The farmer can't bring himself to drown the cat, so he sneaks Peter inside the car of a family who are renting a house close to the farm for their summer vacation. When the family finally reach their home in Uppsala, Sweden, they find Peter and decide to keep him. Without a tail, he becomes the talk of the town among the other cats and, especially Mike, who teases him cruelly. Mean Mike and his two companions, Bill and Bull, are notorious for the nasty tricks they like to play on other cats. Mike is currently trying to court Molly Silk-Nose, but his rough and silly approach does not impress her, since she becomes interested in the kind and gentle Peter. But Mike won't give up that easily and he has a plan for how he'll get his revenge.

On Earth, the eccentric Dr. Krull listens to signals from outer space and realizes that something needs to be done so he sends the two children Cecilie and Fredrik to Gyllenblå. Epicykel, a guerrilla member, senses their presence and hopes to get to them first but fails. The children are put in school, where Fredrik has great difficulty controlling his laughter but Cecilie adapts well. The guerrilla knows that laughter is contagious and Fredrik gives them new hope of returning laughter to the people of Gyllenblå.

Nobody knows what they up to; but strange things starts to happen as Staffan finds a gold nugget while playing in a disused mine at the Kråkberget Mountain during a skiing trip with his schoolmates. Staffan believes the nugget is a part of Skarp-Erik's gold, as his grandpa had told exciting stories about. The news about the gold discovery spread quickly and Staffan and his friends are soon pursued by curious schoolmates, school staff and also the mysterious strangers. All this happens as the students are rehearsing for the nativity play before Christmas break.
