In 1969, at the press conference of Nagashima Shigeo who was joining a professional baseball team, Yomiurhi Kyojin, a ball was thrown at him by a boy. He was Hoshi Hyuma, and a thrown ball meant a letter of challenge. His father, Hoshi Ittetsu, had trained Huma since he had been very young to achieve his dream to make him a professional baseball player.

Chōdenji Machine Voltes V (超電磁マシーン ボルテスＶ Chōdenji Mashīn Borutesu Faibu?, Super Electromagnetic Machine Voltes Five) more popularly known as Voltes V, is a Japanese anime television series that was first aired on TV Asahi starting June 4, 1977. It was created by Saburo Yatsude (a pseudonym referring to a committee within Toei Company) and directed by Tadao Nagahama. Voltes V is the second part of the Robot Romance Trilogy of the Super Robot genre which includes Chōdenji Robo Combattler V and Tōshō Daimos. Like Combattler V, the series was animated by Sunrise and produced by Toei Company. The series was animated by Sunrise on Toei's behalf. This super robot along with the other two aforementioned super robots first appeared the USA as a part of Mattel's Shogun Warriors line of import toys, released in the late 1970s.

The survivors of Planet Baam and the Earth people want to sign a peace treaty, so General Lion and the renowned scientist Dr. Ryūzaki head out to have a reunion. But Lion dies in odd circumstances, his vengeful son Richter kills Dr. Ryūzaki—and war starts. Dr. Ryūzaki's son, young martial artist Kazuya, decides to defend Earth with Dr. Izumi's powerful robot: Tōshō Daimos...

From out of nowhere, a mysterious alien race known as the Boazan Forces has invaded the Earth. A group of individuals specially trained to handle this kind of situation has been unleashed. Kenichi, Ippei, Daijirou, Hiyoshi & Megumi are the pilots of the Choudenji Machine Voltes V (5), Earth's defense against the Boazan and their terrible Beast Warriors. The plot thickens as the Go Brothers discover their true heritage and the truth behind their father's disappearance. Conflicts and mixed emotions hinder the Go Brothers at times but due to their unwavering desire to find their dad, they must go to the place where it all started. With the help of the rebels based on Earth and on the aliens' homeworld, the Voltes Team has another mission, remove the tyrant Zu Zanbajil and liberate the people of Boazan.

Hiroshi is a boy, a bit lazy in school and in his daily tasks. One day, fighting against his bullies classmates, Hiroshi accidentally fell over a frog who was jumping through Nerima, Tokyo Shakujii Park. Due to this incident, Pyonkichi, the frog, became a "flat frog" and his image and spirit get impregnated on Hiroshi's t-shirt. Due to this shirt being the only one that Hiroshi has kept in good shape, he is forced to wear it everyday, interacting with Pyonkichi and becoming friends. Pyonkichi has total control over the t-shirt, being able to move it at will, despite what Hiroshi may want.

Hyuma, who completed the magic ball and big league ball, and his fateful rival, Mitsuru Hanagata. The confrontation between these two people. In other words, the traditional giant vs. Hanshin Tigers ... The whereabouts of this game and the fate of Hyuma's big league ball ... Also, what is Kawakami's prophecy that "a terrifying thing will happen at the end"! !!

Hyuma joined the glorious giant army. However, while he was happy, he revealed his fatal weakness, the lightness of the ball, and was demoted to the second army. In his humiliating farm life, he finally completes the changing ball "Big League Ball No. 1". And whereabouts of the confrontation with his fateful rival, Mitsuru Hanagata, Toyosaku Samon ...

After a slumber of twelve millennia, the Demon Empire awakens to seize control of the Earth. Raideen, the giant robot-like protector of the lost continent of Mu, senses the evil presence and awakens within its golden pyramid. A young Japanese boy, Akira Hibiki, is alerted about the Demon Empire by a mysterious voice and rushes to the pyramid. It is soon revealed that Akira is a descendant of the ancient people of Mu who must help Raideen save the Earth. Akira enters the robot by way of a ramp, accelerating his motorcycle into the robot's head and assuming control of Raideen from an internal cockpit. In typical anime style, Akira is aided by Mari Sakurano, who happens to be the daughter of a prominent scientist, and his friends from the soccer club. Half way through the story the Demon Empire's master, Barao, is released from his statue prison and intends to finish what he started twelve thousand years earlier.

Earth is under attack by the ruthless Campbellian army, and humanity's only hope is five plucky youths. Recruited from all corners of Japan, these young heroes each come with their own specialty, as well as their own priorities... but if they want to save the planet, they'll have to set aside their squabbles (and egos) and unite their hearts. It's the only way to form the invincible robot, Combattler V!

At Koshien, Hyuma shows a great match with Toyosaku Samon and Mitsuru Hanagata. In addition, a work that condenses important episodes until Hyuma grabs the giant star in his hand, such as the "Blood-dyed Ball Incident" that changed his fate and the Giants Army Joining Test with the addition of a new rival Hayami.

Tōshō Daimos the movie is a side story based on the same mythology established in the anime TV series about a powerful super robot, Daimos and its pilot, Kazuya Ryūzaki. In this movie, the Baam send their giant robot Zeron to battle Daimos.

Thousands of years ago, the people of the planet Campbell decided to leave their planet and seek out new worlds to inhabit. One group, lead by the scientist Oreana, landed on Earth, but was delayed from their mission. In the early 21st century, Oreana's group reawakens and begins their plan to conquer the Earth. The only effective defense against the Campbellians' giant biomechanical slave beasts is the super-electromagnetic robot, Combattler V and its pilots. A recut version of ep. 30 in a theatrical format for Spring Festival '77.

"Become the brightest star in the Giants' constellation!" Hyuma was told by his father, Ittetsu. Ittetsu entrusted his child, Hyuma, with a dream he couldn't fulfill. Despite rebelling against his father, Hyuma plays in Koshien through his eternal rival, Mitsuru Hanagata, and his encounter with his partner, Sota Ban.
