Syria, 2015. Russian girl Alina lives in Damascus and, together with her husband, Syrian Kamil, is raising a son, Rustum, and a daughter, Tanya. The echo of the war has reached the capital - terrorist attacks are constantly taking place in Damascus, people are being kidnapped for ransom. One day, Kamil and Rustum disappear without a trace. While searching for them, Alina turns to Russian reporter Evgeniy for help. In order to save her husband and son from a deadly trap, Alina will have to go to a Syrian militant camp.

Due to a childhood head injury, the investigator of the IC Alexey Platov is unable to feel feelings. He grew up calm, reasonable and lonely. It would seem that this is an advantage in his work, but the lack of any emotions does not give him the opportunity to build normal relationships with colleagues and superiors. The story takes place from 1929 to the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. The daughter of a wealthy village miller, Tatiana, meets Nikolai, the son of a kulak from a neighboring village. They are attracted to each other, but matchmakers from Vasily are already rushing to Tatiana. The girl's heart is occupied with thoughts of Nikolai, and she refuses the godson of the village chairman. Nikolai and Tatiana decide to be together, and the bride's parents, Pavel and Marfa, bless this union. It seems that there will be no end to the happiness of the young. But the surplus is rampant in the country, and Vasily has been assigned to answer for the withdrawal of surpluses from the peasants. And the first thing the offended groom hurries to the Kozlov house, where married Tatiana now lives.
