A quartet of childhood pals who create a business together find themselves at the core of a powerful Moscow gang in the aftermath of an unplanned murder.

The action takes place in our time: an exciting criminal intrigue unfolds in one of the major regional cities. In the center of it is the investigator of the prosecutor's office Paphnutiev, forced by the nature of his service to face not only the criminal elements of the city, but also the entire official city leadership.

They were once a special unit of the FSB, carrying out particularly important missions. But after one unsuccessful operation - a portable nuclear charge was stolen - they were dismissed from service and narrowly avoided prison. However, all unfinished business sooner or later begins to create big problems - the "lost" charge turns out to be in the hands of bandits. And now a successful businessman, a private bodyguard and a drunken unemployed again unite in one team to return the old "debt". From the very beginning, events unfold contrary to the plan. Heroes are under the tight control of criminals, and it can only be due to betrayal...

At first glance, Boris Likhachev, a veteran of the Afghan war, is the most ordinary Russian, peacefully leading a quiet family life on the outskirts of a regional town in which there is no crime at all. Of course, because a few years ago he and his combat commander Alexei Bystrov cleared this city of all criminal elements. After that, their paths parted — Boris Likhachev started a family and lived a quiet life, and his commander became the mayor of the city.
