Renzo’s love is returned by Dolores, but the couple's future is threatened by a villain named Rodolfo Farnesio—a wealthy, powerful man accustomed to getting whatever he wants. Farnesio becomes completely obsessed with Dolores's stunning beauty and begins to woo her, determined to make her his wife.

The story follows Felipín, a young boy who survives a shipwreck while traveling to reunite with his father, the wealthy Duke of Oriol.
