Schoolgirl Kuniko is kidnapped by a middle-aged man Iwazono when she is jogging. He tells her that he had a failed marriage which leaves him a deep and everlasting scar in his mind. He kidnaps her in search of a perfect marriage and intends to lock her in the room and 'educate' her to perform perfect sex where body and soul are united.

The final chapter of director Mukai Hiroshi's trilogy on the theme of aging, in which "Going West" raised the issue of human memory and "Hometown" addressed the issue of the physical strength of the elderly. "Class Reunion" depicts the "gathering" that fills the feeling of loneliness in daily life. A man who left Japan for a foreign country during the chaos of the post-war period returns home for the first time in 60 years to spend the rest of his life in Japan, embarking on a journey with his former best friend to recapture the days of his youth.

The chronicles of Sakamoto Ryoma, a pre-revolutionary who helped shape the face of modern Japan. In order to study swordsmanship, Ryoma heads for Edo where he meets many people who influence his thinking. He becomes close friends with men like Katsu Kaishu and Saigo Takamori and later establishes a naval training school in Kobe. Ryoma's controversial political views make him a target for shogunate assassins but his fervent belief in a classless society helps forge the Choshu-Satsuma alliance which ultimately brings about the Meiji Restoration.

The drama sheds light on the dark side of Japan connected to the political and financial world by depicting the vicissitudes of women.
