In 1984, an up-and-coming writer named Aida Taiju has her career crushed by off-hand criticism from an established author, Higashijujo-sensei. They end up holed up writing in the same hotel historically favoured by authors in the Jimbocho publishing district. They become entangled in a long-lasting feud of revenge where Taiju uses her acting background and pretends to be various different women in order to have her revenge on Higashijujo or blackmail him.
