The Roubal Case

Alex Plan, a school ombudsman, strives for fair solutions for everyone, often going against the grain of the system and established practices. He advocates for people experiencing problems in education and tackles issues such as teacher murder and student sexual harassment.

The six-part drama directed by Tereza Kopáčová based on a script by Miro Šifra and Kristina Májová returns to a love story that traumatized several generations of Czechoslovaks. What preceded the infamous family tragedy of 1968? What followed it? Where can disrupted relationships in a closed rural community lead? What do we take with us as an inner legacy from our parents?

Case that connected police, courts, journalists and politicians. Real story, that can repeat anytime again. In the end of summer 2012, Czech republic was shocked by incidents, that public, detectives or attorneys don't remember. Alcohol made of mix of ethanol and deadly toxic methanol killed at least 38 people and harmed at least 80 in few weeks.

A primary school teacher with an inferiority complex about her weight, a bank clerk who suddenly develops a strange rash around her eyes, an aging owner of a 24-hour deli in an unhappy marriage, a lonely man living in the woods and strangers' cottages. They can continue to survive with their problems, hide them, and not deal with them. Or they can fight it and, at the cost of scars and wounds, improve their lives.
