New Forest: A Year in the Wild Wood

Leading scientists from all over the globe report from the Planetary Investigation Lab - where they asses the most likely locations for extraterrestrial life. Under investigation are two new planets, The Blue Moon, world of flyers, and Aurelia, the land of light and dark. Using the lastest computer generated imaging (CGI) and 3-D effects, the show takes you on a galactic journey to these new planets and brings you face to face with alien life forms - like the skywhales, gulphogs, stinger fans, and caped stalkers.

Natural World is a nature documentary television series broadcast annually on BBC Two and regarded by the BBC as its flagship natural history brand. It is currently the longest-running series in its genre on British television, with more than 400 episodes broadcast since its inception in 1983. Natural World is produced by the BBC Natural History Unit in Bristol, but individual programmes can be in-house productions, collaborative productions with other broadcasters or films made and distributed by independent production companies and purchased by the BBC. Natural World programmes are often broadcast as PBS Nature episodes in the USA. Since 2008, most Natural World programmes have been shot and broadcast in high definition.

The story of a little loggerhead turtle, as she follows in the path of her ancestors on one of the most extraordinary journeys in the natural world. Born on a beach in Florida, she rides the Gulf Stream up towards the Arctic and ultimately swims around the entire North Atlantic across to Africa and back to the beach where she was born. But the odds are stacked against her; just one in ten thousand turtles survive the journey.

The program focuses on the hypothetical and scientifically feasible evolution of alien life on extrasolar planets, providing model examples of two different fictional worlds.

They hide in the darkest, most inaccessible corners, are armed with venomous quills and hooked legs, and possess cunning and effective hunting strategies, worthy of the most fearsome predators. Herpetologist Phil De Vries takes us on a journey to discover some of the most dangerous invertebrates on the planet, from the giant centipede of the Amazon to the deadly Japanese mandarin wasp. But beware: what might seem like a nightmare to us is actually something this eccentric scholar can't get enough of.
