The Paradise

The bond between mothers and daughters from a very personal and intimate point of view on love and the passage of time. Because of its intensity, the most primary link has many faces; the mother/daughter relationship has a lot of love, pain, intolerance, competition, attachment, detachment, and love once again. The story also develops during a family trip to the grandmother’s hometown.

The stories of four solitary characters form a single plot in which the rules of the game are determined by chance. Everyone is finishing something; everyone, unknowingly, is about to start over.

Eva and Lola are close friends. While Eva tries to cope with her past creating a fantasy life, Lola does not want to handle with the truth of her real identity. Two friends with different views of the same story.

By chance, Ramiro witnesses the suicide of a beautiful young woman called Angela. She left her backpack with her artwork and an enigmatic recording message. Ramiro tries to contact Angela's family, but when he goes to her house, he sees her coming out the door alive.

After two years separated, unexpected circumstances reunite a married couple.

Buenos Aires at the outskirts of XIX century. A society rigid in patriarchal rules. A war between brothers of Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay. Two young and very much in love youngsters, fight for their right to be together. Obeyance and fear sets them apart along more than ten years. A city doctor changes her life while moving to the triple frontier to work in a hospital in the midst of the jungle and with scarce resources.

On the verge of dying, wounded in the Malvinas, Martín hears his own voice coming from the future to rescue him. Thirty years later, Martín reunites with his girlfriend when he had to leave to fight in the Malvinas Islands. He wants to forget; and she needs to remember. Time is not linear, decisions from the past inevitably impact the future.

The year 2023 marks the 35th anniversary of the association La Mujer y el Cine, and 43 female directors have come together to deliver a fragment of their gaze, a frame, an aesthetic and ethical decision, a tribute to women who anticipated the struggle. A leap into the void made by women filmmakers of different ages and backgrounds. United, in a sort of electronic loom, as an offering and a legacy in which a moment in the history of Argentine cinema is told, where we were all one, with our eyes on the past, our gaze on the present and the horizon full of the future.

The series proposes a new look at the human bonds of the new century. Each of the chapters develops a unique story. They are focused on the conflicts that their characters face in the face of the resistance of a society that often does not fully accept new realities, a product of the transformations that are currently being experienced.
