Maciek is no longer a boy, but has not yet become a man. He wants to satisfy the ambitions of his father, and - as everyone in the family - be a butcher. But he is too sensitive to make an animal suffer. The boy directs all his warm feelings towards an old, neglected orchard - the only memory of his mother - and discovers his supernatural abilities.

Ania, after years of absence, comes to her hometown to spend the last months of her life with her mother, Mara. The girl finds Alek in the village, with whom she experienced her first adolescent love. The meeting of these two will trigger a series of unexpected events, and for Mary, it will be one of the most difficult challenges in her life.

Every summer, Marek and Janina work as charcoal burners in Bieszczady. Far from civilization, surrounded by the mountain range, they live in unison with nature and its rhythm. We accompany them from dusk to dawn, observing the slow passing of time. This is a story about people, who have chosen a simpler life.
