The Mars Volta is an American rock group founded by Cedric Bixler-Zavala, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, Isaiah Ikey Owens, and Jeremy Michael Ward. They are generally considered progressive rock, with jazz, punk and Latin influences. A trailer is burning in the middle of a plain. The bodies of two adulterous lovers are found. Scenes from both families, before and after the dramatic events, suggest an unusual connection between them. But what is their secret?

Barlam (Omar Rodriguez-Lopez) struggles to find himself as he bags groceries, has a semi-incestuous relationship with his sister and attempts to understand his parents' long-ago divorce. Events spiral out of control when he becomes obsessed with a boy who looks like him. Rodriguez-Lopez, a songwriter/guitarist for rock band The Mars Volta, writes and directs this drama that had its North American premiere at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival.

Unable to cope with the fact that his girlfriend cheated on him with his best friend, a 22-year-old schizophrenic sets an elaborate revenge plan into motion before taking his own life.

After her mother’s death, Amalia learns that her husband is having an affair. But when he mysteriously dies a few days later, the young widow, obsessed by her late husband’s mistress, succumbs to bloodthirsty madness.

Set in future Puerto Rico, follows Zur'na's quest to rescue her kidnapped brother from US colonial forces, unveiling a system oppressing her people along the way, accompanied by talkative neighbor Vyeñu.
