Sunbeam (A Sylvia Monologue)

A teenage boy struggles with loss and betrayal within the confines of a small town.

Matthew is a young man pushed dangerously close to the edge by the emotional abuse he endures from his girlfriend; Sylvia.

Cornwall, 1828. With a cruel winter approaching, two tenant farmers break into their master's house to steal his food.

Max and Charlotte take a trip to a cabin once owned by Charlotte’s now deceased uncle. Buried in the bushes outside of the cabin, Max finds an old trunk stuffed with documents, audio cassettes and VHS tapes. The trunk’s contents point towards a half century of murder, secrets and abuse - Max slowly becomes obsessed as he grows closer and closer to learning the truth about the mystery, Britain’s past and the nature of life itself.

‘The Third Life’ examines the relationship between a landowner and a tenant farmer from the perspective of her 12 year old son. As their relationship evolves, The Lady is faced with the choice between liberation and duty.
