Hamlet from the Slums

‎Hilal works in the drug trade, then forces his younger religious brother Diaa to work with him, but Hilal is thrown in jail and Diaa finds himself responsible for his brother's illegal work and taking care of his family and fights a war that he knows nothing about‎‎.‎

In a rural area, Hassan and Hamada compete over Rabia. Hassan then travels abroad, so Hamada takes the opportunity to marry her while exploiting the influence of his brother Sheikh Alaa to achieve his personal interests, and both impose their authority on the residents of the area. Hassan then returns and declares war on them.

Set in the confines of an impoverished Cairo neighborhood, a community's everyday life is threatened by the ruthless rhythms of Tanneries, rotary driers crushing animal skin, hazards of poisonous waste water, Tahyea desperately clings to her brother, Saqr, whose only dream is to escape.

Watching children working in a leather tannery in Cairo we discover the inhuman conditions which the people who live and work in the tanneries have to endure, surrounded by very dangerous chemicals, harmful to man and the environment.

Nada's return upends Hassan's world, drawing him into a deadly game. Threads intersect, forcing everyone to pay a price for the truth in a journey of violence, pursuit, and regret.
