The Jazz Age rages in this comedy film starring Viola Dana as the madcap title character madly dashing through a series of adventures.

Orphan newsboy Michael O'Halloran "adopts" Peaches, a little crippled girl, when her grandmother's death leaves her alone in the world. A chance acquaintance with lawyer Douglas Bruce draws Michael into contact with the Hardings, a farm couple, who bring Michael and Peaches to the country. Wholesome food and good fresh air give Peaches the strength to walk. Also friends of Douglas Bruce are the James Minturns, a wealthy young couple whose marriage breaks up over Nellie Minturn's neglect of their children for a society life. Nellie eventually realizes her error, devotes herself to hospital work, and is reunited with James while bird-calling in the woods.

Sandra and her sister Dody (Theodora) leave the Virginia countryside to join Washington's social set. Dody determines to marry wealth, while Sandra wants romance. Both girls' fortunes are reversed when Sandra falls in love with wealthy Rufus Fisk, whose stepmother threatens to cut him off if he marries her. Dody loves Gale Markham, an ex-soldier, once wealthy, in whom the beautiful Stephanie Moore also takes an interest. Gale returns Dody's affection, but he is reluctant to propose marriage because of his depleted finances. Both girls find happiness when Rufus sacrifices his wealth for Sandra, and Dody her desire to marry money for Gale.

When architect Lee Ellis is discharged from his position in a large firm and has difficulty in finding a new job his devoted wife Mary invests in a business for him with a small legacy she had received. Soon they become prosperous allowing son Jerry to get his longed-for car, and daughter Betty to attend private school. Jerry goes a little jazz mad and rebels against his mother's influence. He decides to elope with gold-digging flapper Edna Larkin. Mary, learning of the plan, chases and saves Jerry when his train is wrecked though he sustains a broken leg. Seeing he has been foolish he straightens out and the family is reunited.

Meanwhile young Tom Benton and his grandmother Millie find themselves in a financial descent that threatens the family's legacy. Later, Freckles refuses a bribe Wessner offers if he will permit Wessner to steal some trees. Instead, Freckles gives Wessner a beating, and his loyalty to McLean earns him a cash reward. Freckles falls in love with the Swamp Angel, but the social differences between him and the girl prevent him from declaring himself. He makes no attempt to recover when a large tree falls and seriously injures him. His recuperation is hastened, however, when the girl expresses her love for him.
