In 2012 the Church admitted her wrongdoings. The movie tells the story of a German woman (Senta Berger) living in New York coming back to Germany to bear witness in front of a board of enquiry. During her stay she remembers her traumatic experience.

Zahra was born in Germany to a German mother and an Egyptian father. As tension rises, the members of the family discover that Benny and Zahra were not the only ones who tried to lead a quiet life while keeping secrets.

Munich 1972: The Olympic Games are supposed to show the world a new, different Germany: the spirit of Munich - cosmopolitan, relaxed and free. Among the miners is Kurt, who has become an enthusiastic communist while a prisoner of war in Russia and therefore hates his father, a convinced Nazi. Kurt falls in love with Lydia. The daughter of Soviet Major Burski was actually supposed to spy on him, but soon returns his love. However, this is not under a good star. A mining accident is in the offing.
