The Third film in Miklós Jancsó's documentary series Message of Stones.

The movie addresses the anti-fascist theme taken from a moral perspective. The movie tells the story of a group of teenagers who were drafted to the front in the last weeks of World War II and found refuge on a small island.

Socialist industry manufactures only those products absolutely required by workers, citizens purchase only those items essential for their everyday lives – claims the film, thereby differentiating the operational principles of domestic industry and trade from those of capitalist countries.

István Cserzi, a former soldier of the Red Army has fled to the Great Hungarian Plains and has taken refuge on a farm, which is run by two sympathetic women.

In 1919, Hungarian Communists aid the Bolsheviks' defeat of Czarists, the Whites. Near the Volga, a monastery and a field hospital are held by one side and then the other.

The Turks win and cut off the king’s, Pepe’s, head, still the Hungarians dictate the peace treaty. Kapa and Pepe want to return, they fill the time machine up with water from the well, yet it won’t start. Even so Kapa and Pepe hover over Budapest and quarrel.
