The Roots

Edward, a young expat gay man, finds himself caged in a glass box, after being abducted by the least person he could ever imagine: his own sister Helen. In order to be freed, he will need to be able to trick Helen, a deeply disturbed yet cunning woman, willing to go to great lengths to cure the young man from his birth nature.

Such children in Ukraine are born 5-6 per year. No one knows the exact numbers. Every second - dies as a baby. Their skin is fragile, like the wings of butterflies. This disease is incurable. But with the right care, they can live. “The most important thing for a child is a stable, reliable mother. The child can have any condition of pain, wounds, and the mother should be close, like a rock. And then the child feels the strength that his mother loves him and in any condition he is sick, screaming, or more calm, his mother is always there. ”

Home is the place where you store your dreams, your happiness, your serenity. But what do you do when you have to leave immediately, without thinking? Then there is nothing left to do but keep home in your heart and dream about coming back with every fiber of your soul. Tetiana has lived all her life in the Luhansk region, but due to the war, she has to decide whether to lose home or to lose her life. She left for the sake of her son's security. They lived in Kyiv for almost a year, but the worries about her mother and homesickness were stronger, and she decides to come back to take her mom with her, and to be at home at least for a moment again.

The almanac was filmed by students of the 2nd TV directing course of the I.K. Karpenko-Kary Kyiv National University of Theater, Film and Television for four months, which changed the country. These are stories about people for whom the Maidan has become an integral part of their lives - from dancing... to gunshots. These are eyewitness accounts, in which emotions are sometimes more important than words.

Ruslana Abrosimova, 17 years old, lives in Mariinka, Donetsk region. Now Ruslana is in an unconditional state of war and is struggling every day with her desire to go out on the street or to stay at home, safe, in her room. War in Ukraine rages for more than five years already. Still, teens never cease to think about studying, discovering new cities and their bright future. Conflict occurs at every step as soon as the children open their room doors. That`s why Ruslana decided to take her camera and start to film her reality.
