Rohaya (Roekiah) must separate from her lover, Kasim (Rd Mochtar), so that she can marry her father's choice, the disreputable but rich Musa (Eddie T. Effendi). The night before the wedding, Kasim plays the song "Terang Boelan" for Rohaya, and they agree to elope. The following day, Rohaya and Kasim escape from Sawoba Island to Malacca, where Kasim begins work at a drydock and Rohaya keeps busy as a housewife. They discover that Kasim's old friend, Dullah (Kartolo), has lived in Malacca for some time.

Mahmud, a young fisherman is in love with Wagini, a farmer girl. The love story is situated in rice fields, mountains and naturally beautiful Indonesian scenery, lending it almost an anthropological quality. It is also presented with songs and sets of poetic quatrains.

Roekihati is a peasant girl who is married to Mansur, despite his father’s objection. Later, under the influence of his peers, Mansur is drawn to Aminah, a city girl. Roekihati, however, remains loyal to their vows and her kindness finally makes Mansur realize his error.

Featuring the clash between modern thinking against traditional conservatism, the story has the troubled romance between the noble princess, RA Rusmini, and the peasant, Bachtiar. This film ends with compromise, that there is nothing wrong with either modernity or tradition.

In a story that takes place in a kingdom in the middle east. A traveler came to present a gift to the royal princess in the form of a flying horse. Apparently, the crown prince went to another kingdom and met a princess. The two of them fell in love with each other. However, the king of another kingdom kidnapped the princess he proposed to and took her flying horse. The crown prince also came to the kingdom disguised as a shaman, managed to outwit the kidnapping king and save the princess with the help of the flying horse he had captured.

Due to problems, Gelder's small plantation is dwindling. So in order to support his son's education in Holland, Gelder falls into the hands of a loan shark. Tragedy strikes when his son Bob passes away. Henk, Bob’s colleague from the university, promises to help Gelder's family after Bob is gone. Henk then stays at Gelder's house and marries Daisy - Bob’s sister. But the marriage fails as Daisy seems to be too busy with attending dance invitations. Meanwhile, Flora, Henk’s niece seems to care more about Baby, - Henk and Daisy's child. Daisy feels jealous and goes to Wijnkoopbai (Pelabuhan Ratu), to commit suicide. But just when Henk is about to marry Flora, Daisy decides against her suicidal plan and returns home. With the marriage cancelled, Flora dedicates herself to the church and becomes Sister Theresia.

This is Roekiah's first film with her new partner, Djoemala, after her separation with Rd. Mochtar.

A woman, who already has a lover, is forced to marry someone else. Tragedy then piles up when the husband has an affair, their baby dies and her former lover goes to prison. The woman falls ill due to her suffering and yearning for her former lover. When she is about to die, the lover that she has been longing for appears. This gripping moment is interrupted by jokes made by Oemar, the comedian. The woman's illness is cured when she hears actor M.S. Ferry sing keroncong songs. The film ends with a scene of Oemar courting the maid on top of a rubber tree.
