Surgeon Alim Sabirov, fearing for the patient’s life, offers his services to Valieva, a protégé of the head of the hospital, who is preparing to defend her dissertation. Due to an unsuccessful operation, the patient dies. But Valieva intends to continue her career in surgery and asks Sabirov to sign a certificate of death, allegedly due to heart failure. The hero does not sign the conclusion and, moreover, begins a decisive fight against the unrest in the hospital.

It is hard work, but she has little choice: she needs to support herself and her elderly mother-in-law. Her husband is working in another country and Gulchehra does not realise that he is not coming back. After the death of her mother-in-law, Gulchehra is left alone in a hostile world, where morals and hypocritical morality reign supreme.

There is a civil war in Turkestan. Many people stood up in arms to defend the young Soviet government. Among them is the young Mayna Khasanova. She devoted her life to the struggle for the ideals of revolution. Mayna, as a girl from a legend, will accomplish a feat, a story about which many generations of Soviet people will betray by word of mouth. The young heroine will be awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Battle.

1989. The former Captain of the Soviet Army Saidulla lives alone in a small house. His son lives in the same village but he does not associate with his father and does not permit the grandson to have contact with his grandfather. He often has a vision: he is visited by an old army friend. He looks exactly the same as he saw him alive for the last time – in the uniform and with an automat-ic gun. Once during a medical check-up Saidulla learns that he has cancer. He does not have much time left but he has to solve the most important problems: provide water-supply for the school, make it up with his son and pay a visit to his former colleague.
