Dance-hall girl Dolly Wall invests her life savings in an oil well. A gusher comes in, enriching not only Dolly but her ne'er-do-well socialite sweetheart Royce Wingate. While Wingate hobnobs with the Upper Crust, poor Dolly is left home alone, stigmatized by her "scandalous" past.

During the journey Linda falls in love with Army Captain Brian Anestry of the United States Army, but foolishly burns her possessions planning to file an insurance claim to tide her over. Arrested, she is involved in a wreck which just might provide an escape for both Linda and Brian from their troubles.

Discovering that he has only a brief time to live Louisiana plantation owner Andres Miro makes arrangements to marry his young ward, Jacqueline Lanier, so when he dies, she will inherit his fortune. One of Jacqueline’s rejected suitors, Jack Calhoun kills Miro in a fit of anger, then shoots himself. A sleazy local reporter, looking to make a name for himself, drafts a story about the incident painting Jacqueline as responsible for the deaths of both men due to her infidelity. Big trouble and heartbreak follows.

He then confesses to his father that he has killed her. Preparing to take the blame, Sir John, accompanied by Wyn, goes to Rayetta's apartment to find that she did not die after all. A lost film.

There she falls in love with missionary Paul Mayne and gives birth to her husband's baby. When Canfield returns for her, Paul reluctantly gives her up. During a storm, however, the husband is drowned, and the lovers are then reunited.
