We Are Living Things

The story of a friendship between Pablo and Daniele. Pablo is a paraplegic who works at a rehabilitation center with more seriously injured patients. Daniele is sent there to do community service because he is a conscientious objector.

Inmates on the remote island of Gorgona, Europe's last agricultural penal colony. They farm the land, care for the animals, hoping for a second chance at life. Through a precise observation of the place and a select group of its people, the film invites viewers to reflect on the role of prison as punishment vs. rehabilitation.

Living in rural Texas is a dysfunctional family: an abusive dad, a Vietnam vet with a war wound that's left him impotent; a compliant wife and a son of about 20, two small sons who look a lot like their brother. The dad harbors a secret, and he goes to murderous lengths to keep it hidden. The young man, Jimmy, who has suspicions, but little comes out until a Yankee woman comes to town.

Police chief Romeo becomes convinced that affluent professional Velasco is a serial killer known for mauling his victims with his teeth, but nobody believes him. The investigation slowly turns into a personal challenge between obsessive Romeo and stone-faced Velasco, an individual above suspicion — he murders people not because he has to, but simply because he can.

Madeleine and Rosy, age 15, both have issues with boys and sex, which they want to resolve this summer. They are vacationing at a cabin on Loon Lake in Maine. When they meet two local guys at the general store they naively accept an invitation to a secret rendez-vous at a secluded pond on a mountaintop for skinny dipping. After the meeting goes wrong, the girls get lost in the woods and as night falls a happy outing turns into a nightmare.
